Moving too fast

Moving too fast
T. L. Eastman 5/12/07

Racing, running no time in coming.
Can't slow down to see what's
Underneath the surface, the unseen, the wild.

Moving faster to avoid disaster.
Moving quicker to avoid the deeper
Moving to move and avoid the master of me.
Can't see it,
Won't be it,
What is ugly, what is obscene.
Who will look and see what is me?

Catching myself on prompts and promises.
Gravity pulls me into everyday passion plays.
Masks unfurled and mascara free.

Moving faster to avoid disaster.
Moving quicker to avoid the deeper
Moving to move and avoid the master of me.
Can't see it,
Don't want to be it,
Oh so ugly, Oh so obscene.
Can You look and see what is really me?

Coming so close to being untouchable.
Won't stop to see what's in front of you.
Under the obvious, underneath the fright.

Moving faster to avoid disaster.
Moving quicker to avoid the deeper
Moving to move and avoid the master of me.

I can see it,
But I don't want to be it,
No matter how ugly, no matter how obscene.
Will I let You look and see what is really me?

Slow me down too let You see what is really me.

SWB - A long time coming

I've been thinking of what I'm thankful for over the past few days and much of it is connected to or in relation to the debut of my new band Tree House Tea Party. It really took a great deal of time and commitment to get ready for this day. Lots of rehearsal in Rhonda's music room, lots of phone conversations, lots of listening to each other and a great deal of understanding and grace from our families and friends.
For Saturday's event we were able to have a full band for the evening - thanks Steve for being so willing to help us - hope you continue to play with us.
Rhonda was so creative in the early outline and restructuring of some of my old songs - thanks for helping me to hear them a different way!
The music that evening was yet another example of the freedom I've been living in and loving over the past few months. Its as if a door that was blocked for a very long time has been dug out and opened. The fresh air and sunshine has done wonders for my creative ability. Thank you God for setting me free.

We have a ways to go in order to have a full set of music - lots more writing and rehearsal, but now I feel we can pull it off rather well. Working with musicians (Rhonda, T.R., Jeremy and Steve) that allow freedom, creativity and expression is a wonderful gift. Thanks for giving me that opportunity.

I will sleep with the melody and excitement of this stage of life resounding in my mind and know that God is walking along this road with me. God help me to stay free.

Peace, love and joy,
Tara Lamont
