Road Trip NY

This weekend we had a chance to hit the road and head to  SUNY Purchase  to visit our son for Family Day. The round trip was well over 800 miles in two days but was filled with some lovely Autumn colors and topped off with a lovely stay over at Doral Arrowwood . Cheers to two days with my two fellows and time to hit the road with time for a family adventure.

Wake up

Early start. I can hear the beat of my heart. Tires crunch through the snow. I know this is the way to go. Bags are packed, feeling on track, now waiting for the next leg in the road. Adventure awaits, no time to waste, only minutes till take off, depart. Warmer I pray, at the end of this day. With water, and wisdom, and heart.

A little help please

Later this month,April 23-29, I will be attending the Princeton Institute of Youth Ministry at Princeton Seminary in New Jersey. When I came across the information for this training, I was very excited as it is affordable in terms of continuing education opportunities and is much closer geographically to my home than many of the options I was considering. There is one catch however in the final details of planning travel to get there in April. Due to registering later than earlier for this event, I will not be able to stay on campus for two of the nights of my stay and found it necessary to book a hotel. While my employer has graciously covered my tuition for this program, I find that I'm running a little short on some resources necessary during travel. So quite honestly, I am asking you to consider supporting me in prayer and/or financially during my initial classes of April 23-29. The specific prayer needs I have during this time are: traveling safety (my flight brings me to Ph...

A pocket of sun

A pocket of sun within a cloud of one, rains down from heavens so gray. Reaching in might, like a yellow lite-brite in the middle of a dark dreary day. It breaks through the bleak, the cold, out of reach and pours out your warmth on the way. We're almost there, to the spot where we'll share a moment of freedom and play. In dark or in bright, in hard times and fright - your willing to help come what may. Across the street or with miles so steep, your brightness will soak me soul deep.

Working on it

After of working very diligently, minus some sweets every now and then, I've been on the wagon of exercise and eating "healthy" through June and into July and I'm doing rather well. I'm about 15 pounds down from where I was in spring thus far. To be honest, I've drank more fruit and veggie smoothies than I've had desserts - so it's not going too rough. I'm mixing up the cardo and weight training, even added spinning and on my third week with that now - and have a session with a trainer later this week to make the best of my time at the gym. I'm hoping all this work continues to pay off health-wise...in a few weeks I'm headed to New Orleans for a youth trip and will be away from my regular routine. I'm feeling a little nervous about that. Any suggestions on staying "on the health wagon" while on the road and out of the norm? Comment away!
