I belong

"You are my child. You are written in the palms of my hand. You are hidden in the shadow of my hand. I have molded you in the secret of the earth. I have knitted you together in your mother's womb. You belong to me. I am yours. You are mine. I have called you from eternity and you are the one who is held safe and embraced in love from eternity to eternity. You belong to me. And I am holding you safe and I want you to know that whatever happens to you, I am always there. I am always there; I am always there; I always be there and hold you in my embrace. You are mine. You are my child. You belong to my home. You belong to my intimate life and I will never let you go. I will be faithful to you." This is a writing by Henri Nowin. It has a great deal of wisdom and focus on God's grace and love for each one of us. May I let these words take root in my heart and mind... Tara

Journey with Jacob

This week I keep going back to the story in Genesis of Jacob and his fantastic dream in the great outdoors. Here's a reminder of the bit of scripture I'm commenting on if you'd like to read it: Genesis 28:10-22 Jacob's Dream at Bethel 10 Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Haran. 11 When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. 12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway [a] resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 There above it [b] stood the LORD, and he said: "I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. 14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed t...

Jacob's Ladder

If you were able to walk back through your personal history, where would you marvel like Jacob, " Surely the Lord is in this place - and I did not know it?" Genesis 28:10-22 Jacob's Dream at Bethel 10 Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Haran. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring. 15 I a...

SWB: Groceries, life and a late dinner

It's late for me to writing my SWB this week - but it feels wrong for it not to be here - so readers, you'll have to forgive my lateness. Being late is something that I really seem to thrive at doing. I'm often late for appointments ( even thought I hate to do that to people), assignments for my college courses need to be extended - even dinner in the crock pot was late last night. I keep wondering - what the heck is wrong with me? Some might say that there is too much going on in my life. An old co-worker and I used to joke about the days where we tried, like a new bagger at the supermarket, to stuff a weeks worth of groceries into one or two bags. Try as you may, you will loose something along the way. I'm attempting to look at life in the midst of this great transition and really see the areas that need some work - where I need some work. There are things that need to be done - Yes. Classes that need to be completed, bills that need to be paid, blogs that need to be ...

Look straight ahead - and DIG!

Last Sunday we celebrated the beauty and wonder of our new beginning together through the TRUSTING eyes of children of God. Beginning on a journey together it's important to know what is necessary to carry with us on this journey of faith and ministry together. What do we need to take with us? What burdens do we need to release in order to move forward? Luke 9:62 (New International Version) 62Jesus replied, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God." When I look at this scripture I begin to think and wonder how often does my ability to rehash, rerun and repeat the negative things of life keep my focus off of the real direction I should be going in? If I'm truly beginning again, why carry around the burdens from the past? If I keep looking backwards on this new beginning, my rows of life will be crooked and disorganized. Crooked rows are harder to care for, nurture, weed and harvest. By looking forward, my rows will b...
