Thomas the investigator

Image found at In-Formatio Thomas the investigator – T.L. Eastman It’s been said that everyone loves a good mystery. Readers love to ponder who did what, when they did it, and how what they did caused all the mystery to begin with. In a good mystery there is a question that needs to be answered and a sleuth that gathers clues until they ultimately solve the puzzle.  Do you have a favorite  sleuth ?  If you like imagine  Sherlock  Holmes or Miss Marple when you think about the example of an investigator. My favorite investigator's name is Thomas. " Thomas who?", you might ask. The gospel of John expresses time and time again the answer to the question: “Who is Jesus?” Chapter 1 proclaims, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God…and the Word became flesh and lived among us and we have seen his glory.” With John’s proclamations and signs, it would not seem to be too much of a mystery to answ...

Getting un-stuck

Image 'Lucifer' by  Franz Stück, from Bierbaum’s  Franz Stück .        Found at:  Tumbler and at:   Franz von Stuck There are spaces that feel comfortable because we've gotten used to them. Just because we've become accustomed  to them doesn't actually mean that they ever fit at all. They've felt too tight, short, uncomfortable, or like they've been borrowed from someone who didn't want to loan them to you in the first place. But you wear them anyway. Because they are there, or there are no other options or whatever reason makes it bearable at the time. There have been attempts to force a fit, change to fit what is there, and even negotiate for some new duds -  but it just didn't click. That day that it smacked you in face - the "unfittingness" of it all, should have been evidence enough that it was time to take it off for good. Those words, "I can't do this anymore." escaped from your lips, before you had the tim...

Trying tofu at home...

INGREDIENTS: Fresh Broccoli (in a steam-able bag) Firm Tofu Tandoori Paste Brown Sesame Seeds Red Rice Noodles/Pad Thai Liquid Aminos Olive oil spray Olive Oil I love tofu, but have been hesitant to try it at home. This recipe was quick and turned out great. Not too bad for a first effort. Extra tips: keep the heat steady for the tofu to achieve a crispy exterior for the cubes. Also, be sure to rinse the rice noodles well to avoid them becoming sticky.Steam the broccoli in a microwave. Put water on to boil for the noodles. Cut tofu into cubes, spray pan with non-stick spray, drizzle oil oil in pan, drop a tablespoon of tandoori paste into oil and mix well. Drop tofu into hot oil and spices and cook each side till golden/red (from spices). Add sesame seeds towards end of browning tofu. Add a dash of Soy or Liquid Amino to browned tofu and sesame seeds. When water boils drop in noodles and remove from heat. Let soak for 5-10 minutes, drain and rinse well. Plat...

On the cusp

On the cusp of something that is unfamiliar and unknown, is like trying something new at your favorite coffee shop. They wouldn't steer you wrong. They know what you like. Right? Sooner or later you'll hold the steaming cup up to your lips and take a sip of  a swirling something that you've never had before. On the cusp is where you find out who you are and what you can be if only you give it a shot - like espresso and effort, and try something new. Cheers! Here's to mud in your eye and to the bottomless cups of possibility, brewing just beyond the cusp of your cup. T.L. Eastman  Copyright 2013

Tripping on beauty

Image by He Qi: Nativity I tripped on beauty and fell – Into cool blues, warm pinks and golds that took my breath away. No bumps. Movement invited me to tango, but didn't mind that I didn't know the steps. No bruises. Grace took the lead and beckoned me to, "Come, sit and rest a spell". Safe. Hope served me some comfort for here and to go. Sound. This company went the extra mile to make sure it’s all good. For this moment, inside these four corners, I am. Home. Copyright 2013 T.L.
